As the workforce becomes increasingly global, the war of talent has become ever more important for firms to secure their ideal candidates; and a country’s attractiveness has never been more vital.

The World Talent Report by Swiss Global Business School, IMD reported that Singapore has been able to leap 6 places up to becoming the 10th most attractive expatriate destination. It is the only Asian country in the top 10; in 3 categories against 61 other countries, Singapore ranked 2nd in Readiness, 18th in Appeal, and 29th in Investment & Development. It beat other nations such as Hong Kong, Australia, United States and Sweden.

With globalisation truly accelerating over the past decade and Asia’s relatively quick recovery from the global financial crisis, Singapore has attracted highly sought after talent. This has also enabled Asian companies to enter new markets and become global players.

From personal experience Singapore is one of the easiest countries for an expat to adapt and settle into - personal security, remuneration package management, and overall quality of life are all elements that enable this.
